Review: Stalking Jack the Ripper

Author: Kerri Maniscalco
Pages: 336
Star Rating: ✪✪✪✪✪

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

My thoughts

I am familiar with the story of Jack the Ripper, having frequently heard about the story throughout my childhood. I believe this story was really well cone and the author was very compassionate with the victims. I appreciated the note at the end of the books explaining the differences. The characters are extremely well done and I liked both the main characters. I enjoyed the relationship between Thomas and Audrey Rose, I thought it was done quite well. The story does describe everything in gory detail but it is creative and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series

My CAWPILE ratings are:

Characters: 9.5

Atmosphere: 9.5

Writing: 9

Plot: 10

Intrigue: 10

Logic: 9

Enjoyment: 10
