2019, Book Haul

August Book Haul

Hey Readers…

I have bought 7 books this month, which is quite a few for me. Most of these books will continue on a series I am enjoying and would like to continue.

The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

512bnykbutxl-_sx323_bo1204203200_This is the second book in the Mistborn series. I am currently re-reading the first book and will continue on with this book next month. I don’t know much about this one as I don’t want to spoil myself by reading the synopsis. The first book is set 1000 years after the dark lord beat the good guys. The book has an interesting magic system that uses metals to bring power. If you have the ability to burn metals you can either burn just 1 metal or you can be a Mistborn and burn more.

I am really looking forward to this one.

The girl who lived twice by David Lagercrantz

51zbzhhatvl._sx319_bo1204203200_This is a continuation of the Millenium Series written by Steig Larsson. unfortunately Steig Larsson has passed away so David Lagercrantz has been continuing this series since the first three. I love this series and I really like the main character. I always love knowing when another is due to come out to continue on.

The Millenium Series is about a girl called Lisbeth Salander, who is a highly-skilled hacker. She is hired by a detective to help find a missing girl. The story goes from there. This series is one of my favourite series and one of the only ones  I will continue to re-read.

Shadow’s Edge by Brent Weeks

514qgzmlwgl._sx316_bo1204203200_This is the second book in the Night Angel Trilogy. The first book is The Way of Shadows. The first book follows an Assassin called Durzo Blint, the most accomplished assassin in the city and a young boy called Azoth. Azoth needs to survive and the only way he can think to do this is to become Durzo’s apprentice.

This is one of the most interesting Assassin books I have read and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the story goes.

Simple Genius by David Baldacci

This is the third book in the King and Maxwell thriller series by David Baldacci. I picked my first Baldacci book up a couple of months ago and I loved it, so I really need to continue on with the series. I really like the main characters and the books go really quickly when you are reading them.

I am hoping I enjoy this one as well as I enjoyed the first two.

The Autumn’s Republic by Brian McClellan

61rgrrlxtel._sx316_bo1204203200_This book is also from one of my favourite trilogies, the powder mage trilogy. I picked the first book up in the series based on a suggestion from my husband as he thought I would like it. I loved it. I thought it was different from other fantasies I have read at the time, they use gunpowder to get their abilities. I also like the era that the books seem to be set in, these also give them a different edge.

I have been putting off buying this book as I didn’t want the story to end but I have it now and can complete this trilogy soon.

The Sovereign by C.J.Sansom

51ss9pxl5ul._sx328_bo1204203200_This is the third book in the Shardlake series. The first book in the series is set in 1537 around Henry VIII as he has proclaimed himself Supreme Head of the Church.

The series is fast-paced and is extremely well done. It keeps you really interested and invested in the characters. I have enjoyed this series so far and hope I also enjoy this one.

Arcanium unbounded: The Cosmere Collection by Brandon Sanderson

51e2gov2bpbl._sx324_bo1204203200_This is a collection of short stories written by Brandon Sanderson in the Cosmere world. I will be reading these slotted into different places as I read my way through the Cosmere books.

Have you read any of these books? if you have, what did you think of them? Let me know in the comments below.
