I am writing this review one day after finishing the book just so I could get my thoughts together a little bit regarding how I felt about this book.
Now I did really enjoy this book. It is told through the eyes of two 10-year-old girls (Grace and Tilly), which is a perspective I haven’t read in an adult book before. I do think the author did this really well. I did find Grace a little selfish when it came to her friendship with Tilly and would soon drop her, even though they are best friends. The friendship did blossom between these two girls throughout, which is something I really enjoyed and appreciated. I could see the character growth as the book progressed.
I found the plot kept my attention and was very interesting. I enjoyed how everything came together at the end, that being said there were a few things which niggled me a little bit, but this could be down to personal preference.
The two girls would explain to every person that they would meet, what they were doing (finding Jesus). Thinking on this for a day and thinking of 10-year-old children I know, this is something they would do if they were doing something they found exciting. So I now understand why the author did it this way. It didn’t take anything away from the story it was just something I picked up on whilst I was reading.
I did like the ending and how things came together but I personally would have liked a little more to the ending.
overall I gave this book 3.5 stars as I really did enjoy reading it and I am going to look at other books by this author.
